Compared to two weeks ago, yearling steers and heifers 2.00 to 4.00
higher. Steer calves under 500 lbs 10.00 higher, over 500 lbs fully
steady to 2.00 higher. Heifer calves steady to 4.00 higher, with 500 lbs
offerings trading 8.00 higher. Buyers bid readily from start to finish on
all receipts at the annual BBQ auction. Most yearlings off of summer
pasture and most calves were fresh bawlers without precondition shots.
Around 290 head of slaughter cows and bulls sold in the mix. Of the
feeders 62 percent steers, 37 percent heifers balance on bull calves.
Weights over 600 lbs came in at 74 percent. Next special calf and
yearling auction is Sep 18.

Aug 21 auction

Compared to two weeks ago, steer calves sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher and 
heifers calves sold fully steady to 3.00 higher. Yearling steers and 
heifers sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher, instance 9.00 higher on 800 lbs steers. 
Bidding was fast from start to finish for all receipts from a large crowd 
of buyers. Quite a lot of the feeders going to out of state feed yards. 
Supply included 95 percent calves and feeders with the balance on 
slaughter cattle. Of the feeders 74 percent steers with 66 percent over 
600 lbs. Next sale Sep 4th will be Customer Appreciation BBQ.
